Migraine – Self Portrait

I painted this self-portrait over a period of 3 weeks, looking into a small hand-held mirror – something you’d find in the bathroom.  I referred to my reflection initially, then lost myself in my own imagination.  All the same, there is resemblance – minus the snakes!

Upon its completion, I had a shocking hormonal migraine for 3 whole days.  The pain was so intense I thought I was having a stroke, then I felt completely wiped out.  I felt as though I was Madame Medusa.
