'The Dingo Did It – Australian Dingo Pop Art Painting by Merry Sparks'

Rock-A-Bye Baaaby… ssshhh, Azaria… ssshhh… It’s on the tip of everyone’s tongue: what became of Azaria? “A Dingo Took My Baby!” are words that haunt the campsites at Uluru and now form part of contemporary Australian legend and outback tales.

This legend has it that a Dingo stole and killed a 9 week-old baby at Uluru. Without doubt, it was proven that the Dingo really did take the baby, but a percentage of the public remain unconvinced.

As an Australian artist with a passionate Australian identity, I am inspired by the stories of our amazing country which I weave through my works, I have immortalised the Dingo in my paintings “The Dingo Did It”. An animal of duplicitous nature, resilient and cunning but seemingly loveable, the Dingo symbolises the reality that Aussies take their natural world for granted and can easily underestimate its deadly force.
